Bubble Makers and Trouble Makers!

diving puerto galera scandi divers

Thanks to the Navarro family who were here on a diving holiday from China! The kids were super-enthusiastic and great fun to have around. Jorge did his Bubblemaker course, Jacobo did the Junior Scuba Diver course, Dad Angel did the Scuba Diver course, and poor little Pablo who is too young to dive assumed his role as the official Trouble maker!

Great fun, we hope to see you guys again!

Congrats to our new Resident Diving Instructor Dennis Frandsen!

From all the staff at Scandi Divers Resort, we’d like to wish Dennis Frandsen a warm “Congratulations” for successfully passing his PADI IDC / IE and becoming a qualified PADI scuba instructor, as well as our newest resident instructor. Well done Dennis, and welcome to the team! Our Danish guests can now choose to have their PADI courses taught to them in their native tongue!

Our other intructor Conan Fagan is off to Ireland for a couple of weeks for his sister’s wedding, and will be resuming his usual schedule when he returns, and Dennis is taking a trip home to Denmark in September, but will be returning in October to his new job. To celebrate Dennis’ qualitfication, and wish Conan a fond farewell, we had a bit of a party for the lads at the Scandi SkyBar, including a delicious BBQ with the amazing catch of the day prepared by our chef Phillip Pangan.

Frogfish on the Alma Jane Wreck – Video

Thanks to our resort manager/dive instructor Terry O’Dowd for capturing this beautiful Frogfish whilst diving on the Alma Jane wreck here in Puerto Galera.

The Alma Jane is a great wreck for advanced divers. There’s always lots to see both inside and around the wreck, with lots of critters camouflaging themselves on the superstructure too. Expect to see Batfish, Lionfish, Scorpionfish and Frogfish just for starters!

Big La Laguna Bay – Sea Krait Video

Dive instructor and resort manager Terry O’Dowd was out snorkeling on the house reef again and found this beautiful Banded Sea Krait just a meters away from the resort.

We are truly very fortunate to have such amazing creatures so close to us!

Terry was using the headstrap mounted GoPro video camera, which is incredibly easy to use and is available to rent for Scandi Divers guests to shoot their own videos of their underwater experiences here in Puerto Galera.

Peak Perfomance Bouyancy

Congratulations to Satu Tiainen for completing her Peak Performance Buoyancy course with Scandi Divers Instructor Conan Fagan!

About the PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy Course

Scuba divers should be  neutrally buoyant so they neither sink nor float, and it can be a tricky skill to master.

Divers who have  the highest performance levels in buoyancy stand apart from others.  They can glide effortlessly, use less air and ascend, descend or hover, seeming with no effort at all.  They interact gently with aquatic life and affect their surroundings as minimally as possible.

The PADI Peak Performance Buoyancy course refines the basic skills you learned as a PADI Open Water Diver and elevates them to the next level.

You will learn how to trim your scuba gear so you’re perfectly balanced in the water, and move more smoothly through the water (reducing your air consumption), as well as how to hover effortlessly in both vertical and horizontal positions. Excellent skills to have in any open water diving environment.

This course is one of the many PADI courses available at Scandi Divers Resort, so there are many options for ways for you to improve you diving knowledge and skills while diving with us in Puerto Galera.

Congratulations Katherine!Congratulations Katherine!

Congratulations to Katherine Magsino, our accounts manager here at Scandi Divers Resort. scandidivers. She successfully completed her open water course, with our diving instructors Terry O’dowd and Conan Fagan.

We look forward to Katherine joining us on many more dives in the beautiful waters of Puerto Galera!
